I did it. I still can’t believe it. I really did it. OMG! I did it!
I bought a new car. And I don’t mean new to me which has been the case with every car I’ve ever had in the last 20 years (I’ve been driving for 20 years?!? *faint*). I mean I bought a NEW car. NEW NEW.
I’m so excited and worried and then excited all over again. LOL! Last night I kept looking out the window to make sure it was still there and that I didn’t dream the whole thing. And then I checked again this morning. It was still there!
The details. It’s a 2008 Pontiac G6. Midnight Blue. Very cute little sedan that runs like a dream, has a huge trunk and a killer radio. The radio being the most important item on the list. I have to get used to sitting low again as I’ve been driving trucks for four years, but I’m so happy. It’s like this car was made for me. It feels right under my fingers and even a co-worker told me this morning that it looks like a “Terri car”. I’m not sure what that means, but I’m taking it as a good thing.
Here’s the picture. Isn’t she pretty? And that’s Kiddo playing Vanna. She’s pretty cute too.
So cute (car AND child). Congrats, Terri!I’m still driving my 1996 Ford Explorer with the Check Engine light on (we have…it’s a mystery why it’s lit…until it dies altogether). I dread replacing it because I love it and it’s comfy and reliable in crappy Maine weather—we are having a super-storm right this minute. We only indulge ourselves with trips at this point—no big ticket items necessary. Get in that new car and sniff the new car smell. Yay you!
Thanks, Maggie! I went from a ’99 to ’98 to a ’00 so I’m very excited to have a car from the actual year we’re in. LOL! That has NEVER happened before.
About the smell, Kiddo jumped in last night and said to close the doors real fast so the smell will last longer. LOL! I think she saw taht on Two and a Half Men or something. She cracks me up.
But I am loving the new car smell. 🙂
Congratulations, Terri! It’s beautiful, she’s beautiful, and I know what you mean – there’s something special about having your first NEW new car. I never had one until the car I currently drive (not so new anymore, but who cares). Mine’s midnight blue, too!
Thanks, Tessa! And don’t you love the color? My interior is kind of a tan and I think gray would look better but I’m getting used to it.
Nothing stays new forever, right? LOL! Doesn’t mean it’s not special all the same.
I am really happy for you Terri. New cars are GREAT. I had to replace my 1995 Ford Explorer a couple of months ago. A very sad day, but the transmission went and I couldn’t see putting $3000+ in a 13-year-old car. (I hope you have better luck Maggie) I got a used KIA, 2006, but it was low mileage and the right price. All our money is going into the new house so a new car was not an option.
Enjoy it!
Love the car, Terri. The color is great, and Isabelle makes it look even better. 🙂
There is something special about that first new car. If I say my first new car was a burgandy Corvair, I’m telling you how old I am. But I did love that little car. I still have great memories of it.
Beth – If I didn’t need the rebates for the negative equity, I’d have been very happy with a good 2006 model. And I test drove a Kia around Thanksgiving. They drive really nice.
Janga – I bet that car was awesome. My dad loves older cars so I’m used to going to the shows and things. I love those models. There was something special about them that we don’t have today with all our computer chips and fancy gadgets. And what’s with the names today?! LOL! Used to be a guy drove a Charger or a Barracuda. Now its an Acura and a Rendez Vous. WTF?! LOL!
It looks beautiful! 🙂 I’m so happy for you! There’s nothing like a new car. I’m still driving my first car (a 2001 with 69K mileage) and I love it. Everyone gives me a hard time because it’s not a smooth car but it’s not supposed to be a smooth car! Anywho, your car does look like a “Terri Car,” and no, I could not explain why. I’m a huge fan of the color, too. There’s something about blue cars!
Forget Diamonds,Dogs and Husbands. Nowadays a car is a girl’s best friend!
It looks magnificent Terri and kiddo looks pretty excited.
May God bless all who sail…er I mean ride in her. *g*
Congrats again on the car, and Izzy looks incredibly excited. There is something about a new car—I still remember my first one, a sparkly pink called Raspberry Metallic. My last two cars have been silver.
Yay to new car buying!
Q – You’re so sweet. Thanks. And this is MUCH better than diamonds! LOL!
Ely – I realize I’ve only owned cars that were various shades of blue, red and white. Except on truck that was pewter. But for some reason, I stick to the basics. That’s just me I guess. LOL! Thanks again!
Terri,
Congratulations on the new car! Like I said on the BB you are my hero.
Isabelle looked so darned cute, I just feel all of her excitement from that one photo.
My husband the accountant always tells me: There were two economist walking down the street. A Ferrari went by and one said to the other, I really want one. The other answered and said, “No, you really don’t or else you would have one.”
I always remind myself with that story when what seemed impossible is very possible.
You deserve it. You and that great kid of yours.
Merry Christmas.

Vagi – You’re such a doll! Have I told you I wuff you lately? LOL!
I’m still riding the excitement of the new car, but that’s only because I haven’t had to make a payment yet. LOL! The excitement will be highly deminished at that moment. *sigh*
My motto is quickly becoming NEVER SAY NEVER! If you live by that, life is rarely if ever dull. 🙂
Congrats on the new car! 🙂 Sorry I was slow on the uptake. I swear, I’m out to lunch these days.
Is is adorable. So funny.
The car is an awesome color, too. I like dark cars.
No worries, Marn. You were out of town, literally! LOL! Thanks for the kind words and Happy Holidays!
And welcome back too. 🙂
Awww! Kiddo and the car are equally cute and charming. I always indulge myself with gifts. ALWAYS.lol. I suppose I’m pretty selfish. Though I’ve never bought myself a car. That’s next on the to do list.lol.
But just to keep my reputation from being entirely soiled by my selfishness, it should be stated that I spend way too much money on others for Christmas.
