Let The Crazy Begin

Yeah yeah, I’ve been AWOL. What else is new?

Have you ever had one of those times in your life where you were so sure that things were settling down? I had that feeling earlier this year. And I made it pay off by finally finishing my first novel. Well, the first draft anyway.

That was big for me.

The rest of the year was looking good too. No volunteering, no schooling, no stressing. Just revising that book and getting ready to write the next one in the fall. I was feeling good and the outlook was clear as far as the eye could see.

And then I screwed it all up just like I always do.

I ventured into home buying and the crazy was back once again. A couple dozen properties viewed and two contracts later, I’m getting the keys to my very first home in less than 48 hours. It’s still settling in and I’m not sure it’ll feel real until I’m there and my stuff is there and it’s MINE.

But it feels good. I’m freaking a little, on the inside, but it’s good.

So my year didn’t go quite as I had planned. *shrugs* It’s still been pretty good. I managed to finish a first draft, get published in a magazine, and have a blast at Disney World attending the RWA conference.

That’s a pretty good year.

From now until the end of November is looking like the craziest six weeks and then I should be able to take a breath. By then, the house should be good and situated, we should have found a new routine, and my Golden Heart entry will be whirling its way through the mail.

With a few months left of 2010, how has your year turned out? As you expected? Nothing like you expected? Better than you expected? And are you ready for 2011? Something tells me it’ll be here before we know it.

Ter, I’d say a year that saw you in your first home with your first publication and your first completed book-length manuscript is a year with lots to celebrate. I know you’ll get through the crazy weeks triumphantly. Good luck with the GH entry!

I’m counting those blessings, Janga, as you so beautifully recommended. And since the current changes are good, it’s a good crazy, right? 🙂

Thanks for the good luck. You wouldn’t be interested in ghost writing a synopsis, would ya? (I’m so dreading it.)

Congratulations! It sounds like you had a great year. Good luck with the house, I know you’ll love owning your own place. This year for me has been all about work. It has been crazy busy, but next year should be a little less insane. I am also headed to Scotland next year for a couple of weeks, so I have something to look forward to.

Thanks, Beth. Signed the papers yesterday so at least now I can settle into the situation.

Scotland?! I am SO jealous. And two weeks??? Man, that is going to be awesome. Can’t wait to see the pictures.

Lots happening again, Ter, huh?! Congrats on the new place. Is it a house, condo or townhome? I hope you have no trouble turning it into the home you’ve always wanted.

Good luck to you and kiddo in the new place!

2010 has turned into a pretty stressful year at the Irish household. I’m kind of waiting for that ball to drop and hoping 2011 holds better things for us all!

Hey there, Irish! Sorry, I’m totally beyond crazy right now. No internet (or phone or cable!) at home so I haven’t had time to update this. We’re moved into the townhouse and now the great unpacking has begun. I’ll be so happy when it’s all in.

It’s looking more like a “home” every day.

Sorry 2010 has been a challenge and I’ll keep my fingers crossed for the new year. I’m sure 2011 will be better. Good people deserve good things and you’re one of the best people I know!
