Another Monday in December means another giveaway, but first, the winner of the Vera Bradley tote bag is Linda Lioi Lubbert! Congratulations, Linda. I will be in touch!
Now onto the new prize. This week it’s all about anchors and time. Thanks to the Anchor Island series, the anchor has invaded my life, landing on my clothes and walls, and now it could land on your wrist.
This week, I’m giving away a fabulous anchor themed watch to one lucky commenter, and I’m throwing in an elegant book-themed trinket box along with it. 2014 has been an amazing year for me, and much of that is due to all of you who have read my books. I’m so enjoying giving a little back.
And speaking of giving back, this week we’re going to be philanthropists. To be entered in the contest, leave a comment naming your favorite charities. Include a brief description and even a link if you’d like. Let’s bring attention to some worthy causes during this week of giving.
The contest is for US residents only, and closes Saturday, December 27th, 2014 at midnight. But anyone is welcome to share the charity they believe in.
Don’t forget to make sure you’re entered on the Rafflecopter widget after you comment in order to have your name in the drawing for the prize.
Now one quick note. I’m sending out a special Christmas newsletter this week featuring the opening scene of HIS FIRST AND LAST, the first book in my new Ardent Springs series releasing in April 2015. Here’s the blurb for the book:
At eighteen, Lorelei Pratchett couldn’t wait to get out of her hometown. Twelve years later, her Hollywood dreams have fizzled and she’s back—temporarily, she thinks. Though she throws herself into saving the old theater and starting a baking business, small towns have long memories, and Lorelei’s wild past still haunts her. It doesn’t help that her ex-boyfriend, Spencer Boyd, is even hotter, smarter, and more distracting than before.
The fiery Lorelei that Spencer knew years ago may have become closed off and cautious, but their chemistry hasn’t faded one bit. Losing her a second time is unthinkable to him, yet Lorelei is convinced she doesn’t belong in Ardent Springs. Somehow, Spencer needs to show her that everything she needs is right here: family, friendship, new beginnings…and a man who’s never stopped loving her.
Warm, sexy, and laugh-out-loud funny, His First and Last is an irresistible story of first love and second chances.
If you want to read how this story begins, hop over to my home page and make sure you’re signed up for my newsletter today! Now, let’s talk worthy causes.
YMCA,The make a wish.
Make A Wish or the ASPCA.
ASPCA, Rescue Dogs
I walk and raise money and awareness for Take Steps for Crohn’s and Colitis. I was diagnosed at age 6 with Crohn’s Disease. The last few years participating in the walk means so much to me.
Make-A-Wish and thanks for these give aways and Merry Christmas!
The watch is beautiful by the way:)
there are a few

humane society, Cystic fibrosis, breast cancer
I give to animal charities year round and sponsor several at Popcorn Park Zoo which takes in abused and neglected animals.
I’m part of The Alba Carter Foundation. We make homemade blankets (crochet, knit, quilt, tie-fleece) and donate them to the local children’s hospital to give a warm hug to little ones in ICU or a stay in the hospital. Last year we donated 720+ and our final total this year will be about the same. We have volunteers from all over the US that make blankets, donate fleece, and take blankets to their local children’s hospitals.
Brenda,
What a wonderfully warm and giving thing you all do. thank you for all that you all do.
dog rescue and food banks
I give to a lot of animal charities and Children’s Cancer.
Wounded Warriors and Military Moms.
I’ve been supporting Alex’s Lemonade Stand for a couple years now. A very worthy cause started by one sweet young girl with cancer who has now passed but her legacy has lived on.

The American Red Cross. They help thousands of disaster victims and military members with personal emergencies.
I am also a strong supporter of abandoned and abused animals!!!!
Animal Friends – a no kill shelter.
I contribute to my church and the American Heart Association.
There are so many good causes out there, but I worry because so many have such high overhead that not much actually goes to the cause. I know that the Red Cross is a good one. Also the L. D. S. Church’s humanitarian aid project, 100% of what you donate gets to the cause, and they work closely at times with Catholic Charities, and I believe everything you gives there gets to its cause.
I also like the Wounded Warriors Project, as I feel that it a very real need.
Merry Christmas to you and your family. I hope you have a wonderful holiday. I donate to St. Jude’s and Johns Hopkins Childrens Center.
Any charity associated with killing cancer is mine. There are so many wonderful charities out there, and nasty diseases but for me cancer is the one. It has taken too many of my loved ones and people I care about. What it does to people…St. Jude’s is a great one.
I am a member our our local Lions club. We help our local community in so many different ways. We help staff a local park visitor center, hold trivia nights, stock and staff food pantry, work the kids concession stands during baseball season and summer ball. It is amazing what a small group of folks with common goals can accomplish.
I like to support St. Jude’s as well as our local food banks.
The two charities we’ve contributed the msot to this year are Loaves and Fishes– http://www.loavesandfishesco.org/ — and Denver Urban Ministries . We also give to labor and environmental and feminist non-profits.
I support year round a local organization called T.E.A.C.H. Which uses horses for therapeutic riding for handicapped children. I also give to the Wolf Recovery Organization in Julian, CA. What can I say, I love horses, kids and wolves.
Thanks for such a great giveaway with such beautiful items! They’d make a great Christmas gift! I’m so glad you brought up charities as people get caught up in other stuff over the holidays and forget what’s truly important. The two charities I support are our local animal shelter, the Capital Humane Society at http://www.capitalhumanesociety.org/ , since I’ve gotten all my cats over the last twenty years from them. Since I’m a quadriplegic I also support the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation at http://www.christopherreeve.org for all the hard work they’ve put into research that will hopefully end paralysis one day.
Happy Holidays to everyone and thanks for all the positive talk!
Big Brother/Big Sister. Cleans out my closet and helps others as well.
St. Judes Children’s Hospital
Wounded Warrior is our top charity and we give to multiple local animal charities.
St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
American Red Cross
Wounded Warriors and the American Cancer Society
I support St. Jude for their wonderful work with children and I also give to Paralyzed Vets. Both of these charities help those who are in great need.
Connie
Endometriosis Assn and Purrs and Paws, a cat shelter
any and all animals, any charity for children with cancers and the wounded warrior project and salvation army.
I love the Ronald McDonald house charities. These houses provided so much when your child is sick and in the hospital far from home. You have people who understand what you are going through, a kitchen to use and laundry facilities plus a room to stay in. I have personally stayed in these homes in 3 different cities and could not have made it without them. The best part is the cost is little or nothing depending on your circumstances.
AAWL (Arizona Animal Welfare League)
I support my house of worship, several food pantries, medical research for cancer and our local PBS & NPR stations.
Doctors Without Borders & St.Jude Childrens Hospital are favorites
